Let's see. I had a student this morning at 10, his first time in the RG, and we had a fun flight. He said he didn't expect there to be so much to do and remember from just another 172 with a few extra knobs. I know what he means. To me the RG isn't exactly complicated, but I feel the same way getting into say the Cheyenne, which doesn't have that many more knobs, but things happen faster than I've previously been used to, so you have to up your game and catch up a little bit, and it's a nice feeling of accomplishment when things like that become second nature. :)
After lunch I signed a young man off for his long cross country. He texted me on each of his three legs, let me know where he was. I'm sorry, old timers, but this is much better than sitting at home for 3 hours or more before finding out how they are doing. Not that I usually worry, with a couple of past exceptions, but it's nice to know! When he got back, he got to go up for an aerobatic ride in the Super D. He said he had to have his mom drive him home because he was a little intoxicated. I understand. :)
Kaylee's Day Two of High School was also just fine. No homework yet, but that will probably change tomorrow. She was given a newer iPad Air instead of the old iPad 2s that they had before, and it's not in a giant, thick Otterbox either. MY iPad case is thicker and more protective than hers. That doesn't seem smart, but they are treating the kids like responsible almost-adults. We get to pay for most of it if she breaks it. She'd better not. She told me that she did not do well with singing today in Starlets, that she felt so good when she was chosen for the group, but now she's not sure she deserved to get in, because she struggled with the harmony and the notes the first day. I told her there's nothing to do but practice and learn and get better. She already has. I have no doubt she'll continue to improve if she puts her mind and work to it.
Kaylee had band practice at 7 a.m . this morning before school, and then from 6:30-9 p.m. too. She seems to be okay with it so far. None of us wanted to get up that early, but I don't think anybody complained.
Tonight I went down to Shady's after I dropped her off at band, while Steve went down to Indy to visit his dad and pick up his mom. Richard is still improving, and they're still talking about releasing him on Friday or Saturday. Hopefully he will be ready to be able to come home then and they aren't just removing him from the hospital early.
Weather has been beautiful this week. I hope it continues. We have lots to do still coming up!
To end on, Justin sent me this thing about "Struggles from people who don't like to be touched", and I won't share the whole page as there was some language and such on there. But some of these were spot on. One that made me laugh was "There are too many people in this world. We need a new plague." After one that says "Concerts or huge crowds are your personal nightmare." Yep. Another was "I hate being tickled. I don't think it's cute or funny. I will knock you out." Uh-huh. And there was "Even too many words touching your ears can be borderline too much." Not just words, but excess noise of any kind. It's true. I also laughed at the diagram of a queue of people lined up an arm's length away from each other with a check mark, and lined up crammed in millimeters from each other with a big X. True. I can handle being in line until people start touching me or breathing on me. Also "Doctor's appointments are a nightmare. Can't you just LOOK at me and tell me what's wrong with me?" Ha. Group hug for people who have to work on being okay in people-touching scenarios? ;)
