Blow Down

So, there's ^^^that^^^.  Not a finished product, but a lovely sight.

It was one seriously breezy day.  My first student of the day was in the 172RG.  We took off from Kokomo, and by the time we got back close to lunchtime, the winds were gusting up to 24 knots, about 40-50 degrees off the one open runway we have right now . The gust factor was high, and it was a really rough day.  That 24 knots felt like more, we were up for 1.7, and by the time we landed for good, we both felt beat up and worn out.  My next guy was in the Cub at Glenndale, where it was a direct crosswind and now the winds were gusting up to 28 knots.  From the wrestling match we did in the RG with less wind, I didn't think the worse weather sounded fun at all, but if he wanted to go, I was going to take him over to Indian Hills to do some pattern work, and just do one landing back at Glenndale.  But he decided that sounded like a bad idea for his third Cub flight lesson, so he canceled, and that was fine with me.

Tonight we had our EAA meeting.  Kaylee didn't have anything after school today, which was also fine with both of us, so after I was home for awhile I made it out to Glenndale where we had a nice, busy, filled meeting.  There was a soft serve ice cream machine, and toppings, and brownies, and cookies, and Dawn talked about 50 years of Glenndale's history, getting stuff ready for the actual anniversary at the BBQ Bash this year.  I'm glad to have been a part of that for quite a few years now.

And hey, Steve is ahead of the game for the first time ever on the BBQ Bash.  Exciting, man!  :)

Richard is continuing to slowly regain strength and ability, is at Westbrook for now, with more doctor appointments coming up and hopefully a few more answers.

Kaylee's band is doing a fundraiser where you order foods.  They want her to order 15 items.  She's at 3 items and it's already $50.  The school only gets a fraction of it.  The problem is, we didn't like any of the food from last year.  We threw a lot of it out just a few weeks ago.  We don't want to buy a bunch more.  I think I'm going to go ahead and just write a check right to the band/school.  She'll be disappointed, but man...

On to tomorrow.
