Richard was released from the hospital today! His surgery was late last night, they removed the wires in the middle of the night, and he was released by this afternoon. He's doing great, and his rehab facility (that sounds funny, but you know, physical therapy rehabilitation) is by all appearances The place to be. Great facility, food, people, room, the whole ball of wax. We're not sure how long he'll be there, but Steve said he's considering moving there himself!
I had an Imaging flight today, was in the air by 8 a.m. and done by 10:30, to the north this time. It worked out pretty well, and was actually the first one I did by myself. The other three I took someone along and let them mess with it too. I have another one Thursday (or as soon after that as the weather allows). They just paid up for the flights we've done so far, and that really was lovely!
I've been eating poorly and moving not enough, and I can feel it, which is actually kind of a good thing, because I don't like how it feels, so today I actually felt like eating a salad both for lunch and for dinner, and I still had a cookie for dessert, which I split with Kaylee, but I already feel better after just one day of eating better. In the past I could pick up a lot of weight and not even notice. Not now...I can feel it, quickly. That helps. :)
The airport ran out of fuel today, and whoops! Glenndale's runway is too soggy to use, Sheridan no longer has fuel, and now Kokomo was out. Fortunately we got ours planes full before they ran dry, but the US National Aerobatic Team had to sit and wait for us to send someone with a truck and trailer over to get some gas for them and bring it back to Kokomo. Heh. I then took a student up in the 172 while they waited for fuel. That worked out well for me, actually. Tomorrow is supposed to be their last day. It's good that they're here, and they are fun to watch, and I'm glad it brings good publicity to the airport, but we lose a lot of money while they're here, because people don't want to fly and deal with it so they wait for them to leave. For them, it's a practice and play area, and then they go on to get their photos taken with the Blue Angels and Quick Silver the P-51 and fly at Oshkosh and go to France for world championships and go on to their fame and livelihood...but this little place, here, now, IS our livelihood, and they definitely impact us. It is great that they come back and do our airshow for free though, as they practice again before Oshkosh. I like watching the unlimited guys get it on; they're really impressive, especially having the formation group go to town in your home turf. It's actually kind of fun coming in to land with them flipping around next to you. Well, fun if it's just me coming in; not so fun with students. But it's an interesting view seeing that stuff from altitude.
I hurt Kaylee today. :( She was in my bathroom, so I went up to the door and knocked on it and said "Hey!" I scared her, and she started almost howling in pain...she'd been cleaning her ear with a Q-tip, and when I scared her, she jammed it into her ear. The ear did bleed, and still hurts when she talks or yawns, which means she probably punctured her ear drum. She hasn't had any hearing loss, not that she can tell, at least. I looked up WebMD, which said that in general they just monitor it, prescribe Ibuprofen for pain, and/or heating pad, tell them not to get water in their ear or blow their nose hard, and if it gets bacteria in there, they may have to go on antibiotics to prevent an infection. *sigh* I didn't take her to the walk-in clinic, but if it hurts worse tomorrow or my gut tells me to, I will. I don't think they can do much, but... Man, I hate that. She has camp coming up in ten days, and it can take months to heal an ear drum depending on how bad it is, and you can't get dirty lake water in there if it's punctured. I told her we'd probably have to get her ear plugs to wear in the water to be safe. Kinda stinks, I feel bad!
Kaylee hasn't slept in her room since the Giant Spider Episode. Today she went back into her room, was going to try to give it a go...and immediately ran into a small version of the bigger spider she never found. She tried to squish it with her saxophone case, and it ran UP her book case, and disappeared, and she was out of there. I went in armed with a can of spider spray, but I never saw either one. I don't want to sleep in her room either though, folks. She insists she's done with that room until her dad puts a bug bomb in there and takes care of the critters. Not sure I blame her. I searched the room. They have to be hiding under her bed or in her closet. Like a monster, only it's not imaginary. I couldn't sleep like that either!
Sleep, on the other hand, that does sound good. Early bed time sounds like a plan to me...
