I did partial panel VOR approaches this morning with someone, ran around like crazy to do an imaging flight at the last minute including having Steve take my next flight, but then the clouds rolled in and I was done there. So after lunch I took the next flight in the RG, complex procedures, and then went up with the young man who went up and soloed for the second time, this time going for an hour and a half, to where we were wondering if we should start looking at fuel or get on the radio and tell him to bring it in. He had fun, so much that when he got him his Dad texted me and said he was talking about it non-stop. That's fun!
Steve and I met Nathan and Tre and family at Outback and had too much but excellent tasting food. When I got home I went walking in the park, where they were holding a band concert. I enjoyed listening to the band (band as in drums, horns, sax, etc.), and when it was over they played the National Anthem and asked everyone to sing along. There were a few hundred people there, and they all got to their feet, all the hats came off, hands covered hearts, people faced the American Flag, and everyone sang. It was respectful and patriotic and country and peaceful and right. Made me glad to be there.
Just a fraction of the cars parked in the park for the concert. The cars went well behind me and well past where you can see here.
A small section of the crowd, with the lit stage to the left (and the American flag mounted on the back wall of it.) The crowd went in sections to the left and right both of this cross-section. The city holds free concerts every Wednesday night in the park...a nice thing from Kokomo.
