Happy Birthday to Ann! She's special, she gets two birthdays; one the actual day she was born, the other the day the officials mistakenly put on her birth certificate. I can never remember which one is correct, but that's okay, because then you just get to hear Happy Birthday twice! :)
Kaylee and I picked out a pretty pink lily flowering plant so they could have a little indoor Spring on her birthday. It's supposed to snow again here tomorrow, so that seems like a little something to bring some cheer, anyway.
Kaylee and I also made these Red Velvet brownies today. You can make them more like cake or more fudgy, and that's so much not a contest that I didn't even ask anybody else. Fudgy it is. And then we undercooked them just a bit, because, well, two of us like them best that way and the third is just outvoted. We put a cream cheese frosting drizzled on top, and it was tough to wait until they were cool enough to put that on without it melting into goo. But you know what love is? Love is giving your kid the one center square, with no crusty edges, just all goo, even though she doesn't understand that you want it just as much as she does, AFTER letting her have both the spoon and the bowl! I mean, c'mon! That's love! At least that's love from ME. ;)
Unfortunately, this afternoon Kaylee started not feeling so well. She feels a little warm, her head hurts, along with her throat, and her nose is stuffed. So I kept her home from church tonight, and she's resting up. She seems to keep picking something up from school. I don't think I've caught it yet, but she is still all over me when she doesn't feel well and today was no exception, which I didn't mind until I found out she doesn't feel well. Then I want to Lysol everything including my clothes, because I have several trips coming up, and I can't afford to be ill. :P
I'm all packed for my trip--I'll be leaving the house around 7 a.m. and will be spending the night in Bessemer, Alabama, before picking him up on Tuesday in Anniston, Alabama, only about 60 miles away. Or I'll see which place has a better place to have a nice dinner and spend the night there. ;) Anyway, I won't be home until Tuesday evening some time.
Kaylee helped me start an Instagram account awhile ago, but I only had it so I could see her stuff really, and then she helped me figure a few other things out on it, and I decided it does have a place, a nice place to just have your own wall of nothing but your favorite photos. So I've started going back and posting some old favorite photos of mine, or I will be doing that anyway (I only have 7 photos up so far). If anyone is on Instagram who would like to participate in that or see those, my username is "flightoftwo" there, and I think you can find me by that or by my name either one. I'm still figuring it out, don't have much up yet, but I'm getting there.
I think I'm currently drying one of my last loads in our dryer. Justin G's washing machine broke down again, so he is buying a replacement washer/dryer set, but the dryer worked fine. His in-laws were going to be able to use the dryer, but then it ended up being too big to fit, and same with his brother-in-law. Our dryer is struggling right now, it's 25 years old or so, and now it's taking twice as long to dry a load. It's still working though, and we weren't going to replace it until it died, because there are other things we need to spend money on more than just a slow dryer. But then when the in-laws couldn't use the dryer, Justin and his wife offered it to us, which is super nice, and we'll go pick it up tomorrow or as soon as Steve can get it together. Right now it takes between 2-3 hours to dry one load, which is fine because I'm rarely in a laundry hurry, but it'll be nice to get through it faster too. :)
Well, I'm going to go get the kid that brownie she is craving, and finish checking the weather and getting ready for tomorrow. It's been warm and clear and sunny all week, right? So tomorrow I'm looking at snow, IFR, icing, and down in AL, IFR and I'm a little concerned about fog with the temps, dew point and humidity, even though nobody is calling for fog yet, just "overcast". Mmm. C'mon, give Laura at least good enough to get in, pretty please!
