Bleh

Kaylee came home from play practice last night, and the make-up and/or the cleaning wipes she used to get the make-up off of her face caused her face to break out into a rash.  She had that problem last play and we both forgot about it.  This morning she woke up with a splotchy, red, rashy, itchy face, which she scratched at, washed, and then put lotion on, making it worse.  Her eyes and eyelids were swollen and puffy, and she felt "like crap".  She said she would have asked to stay home from school, but ISTEP testing is going on right now and she doesn't want to miss it.  So, like yesterday, and the day before, I got up at 6 and made her eggs and toast and OJ, and she dragged herself out to school.  About 9:30 a.m. I got a text from her asking if I could come get her from school, that her face was a little better but she felt awful.  She's not a faker.  I had a flight from 9:30-11:30, and I asked if she could wait until 11:30 as I was getting ready to go up, and she said yes.  When I got to the school, they hesitated on letting me take her home because she hadn't followed proper protocol of going to the nurse's station/office.  I asked her why not, and she said "What's she going to do for me?  I might as well sit in class if I'm going to be here."  I think she has a point.  The school finally let me take her even though the nurse hadn't observed her, which is good, because I was in no mood to be messed with and she was going to come with me one way or the other anyway, which they apparently figured out.  ;)

When I got her home, I got a cool washcloth for her eyes and forehead, put her on the couch, and left her there to sleep, while I went to lunch, and brought her back some soup, some medicine, and some hypoallergenic, alcohol-free, dermatologist-tested wet wipes to use instead to take off her make-up.  I'm guessing it's the wipes more than the actual make-up that is getting to her.  When she was a baby if I used regular wipes, she'd break out into a rash.  Why not her face cheeks too?  :)  So I gave her those to try, and I hope it works.  These aren't "facial make-up remover" wet wipes, but baby butt wipes, but really, they are still wet wipes...they ought to do just fine.  The first chance she'll have to try them out is right after her play performance Friday evening.  I sure hope she doesn't break out again in time for Saturday's performance.  And I sure hope she's feeling better by tomorrow evening, too.  Nothing like being sick and having a super busy weekend full of play performances to attend and participate in.

Kaylee says her head, nose and ears feel stuffed full and with a lot of pressure.  I've given her sinus medication and she says it helped her head, but her ears are still blocked, occasionally popping, etc.  Poor kid, and she's in the middle of testing, too.  I hope she can concentrate well enough to do well on these things.  Tomorrow they have two sections of ISTEP testing to complete.  She's going to try to go to school and do them.  *sigh*

Meanwhile, I feel off too.  I can't tell if it's because I'm not getting my normal amount of sleep for several days in a row, if it's because I've been stricter on my calories again, or if I'm coming down with something.  So today I had a bigger hamburger (no bun) and cottage cheese for lunch to get some red meat going, came home and tried to take a nap, and am taking it a little easy myself this afternoon.  I've been doing really well on my walking lately, too, but I feel like walking today like I feel like getting a tooth cavity drilled...

Yesterday I had a flight in the 172, and we made a landing after which I felt a little wobble when the nosewheel came down.  I had him take it back to the hangar right away, and saw the nosewheel tire was really low.  We got it pushed back into the hangar, and they later found a small tear in the tube.  I'm really happy I didn't end up in the middle of the runway again, for what would have been the sixth time ever.  Heh.  Beat ya that time!

Steve is working on getting everything ready for him to leave for California on Sunday.  I am working on all the parties I'll have and all the fuel I will put on the various accounts while they are gone.  Heh.  No, but if someone wants to come drive Kaylee to the bus stop at 7:15 a.m. that would be great!  ;)

That's about it around here.  Computer, flying, kid stuff, health stuff, just plugging along.
