Kaylee's school was canceled today because of the cold temperatures. I'm not too sure why--they told everybody to keep the kids inside until the bus showed up and then send them out, even if it took longer to get everyone. The rest of the people drive in a warm car, drop the kid off to a warm building. Dress appropriately and don't stand outside forever, and there's no reason they can't sit inside at school for 7 hours. Of course the first idiot parent who sent their kid out in shorts an hour early causing the death of a child due to the cold, the school would probably be sued out of existence for having school at all. Good ole American liability.
I'm guessing tomorrow will be canceled as well, considering the worst of the 'Arctic blast' is supposed to hit around 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, with wind chills of 30 below zero. Guess what time I'll be pulling a plane out and launching in the morning? Yep! I already texted my passengers and told them to dress particularly warmly. For one thing, our airplane heater will not keep up; I already know this. For another, I don't intend on having to land in a field somewhere, but if you do, you don't want to be wearing a t-shirt like this guy usually does. :)
What was not canceled today was Kaylee's play practice. I say if you can get to play practice when the temps are worse than they were this morning, then you can get to school. But, not my call.
I think I'll go start the Explorer up and let it warm up for the next 15 minutes before I have to go fetch her from play practice. She'd better be done on time, too. ;)
