This morning when I left the house to do an instrument training flight, I could tell it was going to be a hot, hazy summer day. The sky was white and flat, the air around us was just thick and dull. It was just one of those days that's not very pretty, but at least I got one out of three flights in today. This afternoon as the weather started moving in, I instead got some SMA Support stuff done and sent off, and made it to the store, as our cupboards were bare. I got stuff put away and then went down to Indy Metro for a CAF meeting. The rain started shortly after I got there, and we held the meeting inside the open hangar, so the rain pounding on the hangar's tin roof made quite a racket, and it kept up for pretty much the whole time of the meeting. :) We needed the rain though.
On the way home, it was dark, and there was still a big line of storms out there. The lightning was amazing. Some people get in trouble texting and driving, I had trouble staying on my own side of the road because I couldn't stop staring at the storm. There were some lightning strikes so big all the way to the ground that I was staring at the ground waiting to find signs of fire. Huge lightning bolts. In the meantime there was a full display of cloud to cloud lightning too. It was just really pretty. I drove into the center of one of the storms, and the rain was coming down so hard you couldn't really see, and the lightning would flash so brightly that your windshield wipers, which were as fast as they'd go, would get the strobe effect going. Cool, man...
The last three nights in a row I've had weird bordering on bad dreams, a little worse each night. I have a terrible urge to tell you what they all were, but most of you don't need to read that. Last night's was actually really unpleasant though. Hopefully tonight will be a little nicer. I can't think of a single thing that would be causing that either, so it's time to go away now. So on that note, Sweet Dreams! :)
