Fogged

We all woke up to a whole lot of fog this morning.  I got up to get Kaylee ready, as I had an 8 a.m. flight, only to find a message from Eastern saying "Two Hour Delay".  Yay!  Next I had to wake up at 7 to make sure my 8 a.m. student canceled.  He did.  Then Steve woke me up to see why I wasn't taking Kaylee to school.  Fog.  Eventually I got up anyway, took her to school, and then waited around all morning for the fog to lift so we could go fly.  It didn't.  We went to lunch, which I left early in order to go run up the T-6 and do a "leak test" (it was great), and then a 1 p.m. lesson with a young man who brought his grandma along for a ride.  That was sweet.  She was a neat lady, and I enjoyed having her there.  It was her second time ever in an airplane, and she loved looking around, and he just flew her around the city, around her house, around where her family worked, etc..  He's a student pilot, hasn't soloed yet, but he wanted to take this lesson and just fly his grandmother around, and we all had a nice time with it.  After we landed, I was talking to her for a few minutes, and as she walked away, she turned back and said "I don't know much about this, I know, but I thought he did a wonderful job!"  Just like a perfect Grandma!  :)  I said "Yes, he did great!"

I ended up at Kokomo and flew the 172 back to Glenndale after its annual, and waited there until my 7:30 p.m. lesson in the Cub.  We flew until someone turned the runway lights on at Glenndale, about 9 pm or so.  The young man I'm flying with in the Cub is really picking it up FAST.  His second lesson he's done most of the pre-solo maneuvers and has the takeoffs (no wind) down smooth.  Most people who are already pilots don't even have the takeoffs down after two flights.  And he's got a nice stabilized approach coming down for landing, too.  It must be great to be 14 and a quick learner.  :)  I ought to throw Kaylee in the Cub and see how she does.  Hmm.

Kaylee and Steve went to a store and picked up a tennis racket and cover, and a padlock, getting ready for the upcoming week.  The padlock is for her locker so she can keep her sax in there instead of hauling it home and back every day.  The tennis stuff should be self-explanatory.  ;)  But she's happy to be getting into the swing of all the stuff.  Next Monday she'll start back in Taekwondo too.  And away we go!
