(That's "sweaty" for some of you.)
So, it was a good and hot and muggy one today. My first flight was at 10 a.m. before it got too bad, and my last flights were from 4-8:00 p.m., when, for the record, it was definitely hot. At 2 pm I know the heat index was 100 F, but I'm not sure what the high was for the day later in the afternoon. I reminded myself again of the feet of snow and the sub zero temps we spent months staring at, and then wiped the sweat off the ole brow and drank another bottle of water. :)
This morning started on a good note, I think. I got my letters of approval from the CAF to be both an Instructor Pilot (IP) and Check Pilot (CKP) both for the PT-26. They sent the letters this morning and said they had enough votes to approve it now. They are breaking what they normally prefer to do--they want a different person to be the IP from the CKP for a system of checks and balances, which I understand. That's like a regular instructor then being able to be the one to give their student their Private Pilot checkride. But this isn't a Private Pilot checkride, it's an airplane checkout, and fortunately they seemed to see the light on allowing that, so that's good for our local CAF wing, because when I get back from Oshkosh, I've got a couple guys ready to go on getting checked out in the plane, who have been waiting for quite awhile to do it.
The camp has new pictures up finally, and there are a few of Kaylee--one she is suited up and ready to go zip lining or wall climbing, can't tell which. There is also one that is cracking us up where she photo-bombed the photo for one of the group shots of one of the boys' cabins. It's a group of boys, and then in the back of it is Kaylee doing her goofy Squirrel face, totally photo-bombing their shot. It's just...her. She is obviously not sitting around pouting about how much she misses her Indiana crew, which is a good thing. ;)
Here are a couple of photos that a photographer named Trevor Griffis took of me coming in to land at Kokomo in the middle of the aerobatic folks. I joked "Here is a cool national champion inverted 10' over the runway! Here is another cool national champion sideways and tumbling! Oh hey, it's a CESSNA! Yay!" Haha. The photos turned out pretty well, though.
