It was a busy day for everybody except Kaylee. It's 11 p.m and Steve's not home yet. His last thing tonight was a meeting for next Saturday's airshow and it must not be over with yet, because he still needs to come home and pack his bags and get ready to leave tomorrow morning for a little vacation time. I had four flights scheduled, ended up taking three of them, all in the 172. That keeps you busier than it sounds like it should, at about two hour segments each student. The second one scheduled me over lunch, which always makes me wonder. If a person has a flight scheduled in the morning until noon, wouldn't you think maybe they'd like a break to eat lunch first so they don't end up having to wait until 2 pm to get some food? I would think so...
After I got back from my flight that ended at 6:30 p.m., Kaylee and I got her stuff packed for vacation and camp combined, and then I went on and got my stuff packed (mostly), and I tried to get the house ready. Trash, dishes, plants, house picked up, etc.
I talked to a guy about flying his Twin Beech while we waited for the CAF Twin Beech to get airworthy. If I can get my time and checkout in his plane, then we can be ready to go when ours is, well, ready to go. He offered his plane to me, which is super generous, and I'm very grateful. As soon as we get back from Oshkosh, I'll be getting together with him and Doug and start working on learning that airplane. I need to study the ground stuff, but man, I have so much stuff I need to be studying. I ought to bring some study materials with me to Oshkosh. Right...
Well, tomorrow it's get out the billing that Steve is working on late tonight, get the rest of our stuff packed, get Kaylee's hair cut, top off the vehicle, get the boat hooked up, figure out if we're driving down together or if I'm flying down while Steve hauls the boat down, and heading south for a few days of R&R with family. Looking forward to it. I'm not going to take my laptop and I'm not sure what kind of internet there will be, so if you don't hear from me for a few days, well, I'm probably still alive, even if Steve does try to drown me on the lake in the tubes or on the skis. If I try skis. I should try them, even if I'm 42 and I've never done it before and will be ridiculous and face-planting and water-swallowing and a little too big for that. I'll at least go tubing. Tubing is fun and involves much less face-planting at least...
