Poker Run

Kaylee spent the night with her friend, slept in until 10 a.m., being the last one up (that's a shocker!), and then they brought her out to the airport after lunch, where she finished the day playing with a group of kids outside, getting dirty, playing hide and seek, and doing good solid outdoor country-ish fun. You have to like that.

It was supposed to be a really nice day today, but it didn't quite get the memo.  It started off okay, got a little sketchy, then cleared off beautifully--after the whole event was done and most folks had headed home.  :)  It was a bit lighter of a Poker Run than we had the last few years, and we had way too much food, but participants had fun anyway.

Steve got out there really early, and I got out there at 8:30, which is still pretty early for me. Today was Armed Forces Day at Frankfort Airport, so around 10 a.m. Nathan and I went over in the T-6, me in the back, had a pancake and sausage breakfast, then headed over to Delphi to say hi to them for their fly-in breakfast, than back over to Kokomo just in time for lunch.  :o  At 3 p.m. there was a fly-over at Grissom's Museum, and this time I flew from the front and Nathan rode in the back.  I originally wanted to go up and do some aerobatics too, but the ceilings were low, and the mood just didn't strike to work to get above them, I guess.  Another time.  We had all sorts of wonderful food, and the poker run participants wandered in and tried their hand at winning, so to speak.

I walked outside late in the evening, and the sun was going to be going down within the hour, and I thought it looked like a beautiful evening to do a little bit.  Steve went with me this time.  It took him a little bit of effort to get himself situated in the airplane, but finally we got to go.  ;)  We didn't stay up long, he did some flying from the back seat, and after the sun went down the cockpit and gear pins were starting to get a tad on the dark side, so I decided that was good enough for one day.
