Hola

It feels a little unnatural that the sun is up so high and the day is so bright at 7 a.m.  It feels like it should still be dark, but it does make it a little easier to get going, anyway.

I took a young fellow with me over to Burlington, Iowa today.  It's on the east edge of the state, so not that far over there, took about an hour and a half to get there even with some pretty good headwinds.  I let the other guy fly once I got us leveled off and stable, and let him fly us  home, as the person in the back seat didn't know the difference or care.  We got into a little IFR and a little rain with some light turbulence, so that made it extra tricky for him, but he enjoyed the challenge.  :)

When we landed, I had time to run into town and grab some "lunch" before coming back out to fly with a student who hasn't gotten to fly in a month thanks to weather and his schedule.  We went up and did the basics again, and he was glad just to get back in the air.

I posted this on Facebook, which Kaylee didn't want me to do, but I did anyway.  She's worried her friends will see it, so I compromised and just blocked her school friends on it. We got a letter in the mail today from her school, and they said that they offer three honors classes for 8th grade; Language Arts, Algebra, and Spanish, and that based on her ISTEP tests, her grades all year, Acuity tests, and teacher recommendations, Kaylee qualifies for all three honors classes next year!  In two of the three classes, if she keeps her grades above a B-, it will count towards High School credit, too. Something about giving her an easier Senior Year too.  She's been doing so much hard work this year, balancing multiple plays and Taekwondo and tennis for awhile and singing lessons for awhile and still keeping her academics up. She makes me tired sometimes just watching, okay, and running her around to all this stuff too, but she's doing great.  We're proud of her.  :)
