We actually did have today off, which was a nice change from the last month or better of weekends.
I took Kaylee to the theater to watch "Divergent". She's read the whole book series, which I have on my iPad but haven't read yet. They're hoping it will be like The Hunger Games, but I don't think it will. It's a good dystopian story, and I enjoyed it, but it doesn't have the pizazz...something is missing from making it a huge hit, I would guess. I did like it though. There are Five "Factions" that kids choose to be part of when they reach a certain age, and once they pick, they can't go back. The groups are 1). Erudites: the intelligent ones, 2). Abnegation: the selfless ones they call "stiffs" (service, run the govt, almost like Amish in their rules, etc.), 3). Amity: the peaceful, crop growing, happy ones, 4). Candor: the brutally honest ones, the lawyers/judges, and 5). Dauntless: the brave ones, the defenders, fun and daring. After watching the movie, I asked Kaylee which faction she thinks she would best fit. She said she didn't think she was brave or physical enough to be Dauntless, didn't think she was giggly enough or enjoyed working in farm fields enough to be Amity, that she wasn't interested in all in Candor, thought she'd have trouble being totally selfless and serving all the time, so she would probably fit in best with the Erudites. They all had their problems as far as I was concerned. I never have liked little square holes and pegs that you're supposed to put your life into in an orderly manner.
Kaylee had her first e-Learning Saturday school make-up day. The teachers prepared lessons for the kids to have to do on Saturday, and were on stand-by in case any kids had any questions. That's one less school day to have to make up by the end of the year. This first one wasn't too bad for her, and hopefully future ones will be okay too.
Got an invitation to the first formation clinic this spring, April 5th & 6th. Guess we'll see.
