Saturday Feels More Like Thursday

It was butt cold today, high of 25 I think, but at least the winds were light and the sun was bright.  That made it at least LOOK like a pretty day.  I woke up feeling crappy still, took my time, slowly got ready, fortified up, then went out and did a 1.8 hour flight in the 172 in the pattern with a primary student for Steve, who already had three flights lined up that day.  It was a great day to learn landings, with light winds right off the nose and nobody else around, and he did a great job.  So this was the Mighty Steed of the Day.

I had found out last night that one of the ingredients listed in Kaylee's upcoming school project took 4 hours to make.  Just one of the INGREDIENTS for the project, not the whole project.  But it can be made ahead of time and stored, so I'm going to make that with her tomorrow, save it until Thursday, and then when her friend comes over that'll already be done and we'll just have to put the rest of it together.  Thursday is going to be a long night though--they get home from school close to 4 p.m. and these are two separate major baking projects.

After I got done flying, I went to the store to pick up some of the ingredients I knew we'd need for this thing, and by the time I was done with that, I was all worn out for the day.  Time to go home and crash.

Kaylee may be spending the night with a friend, I'm caught up on a few things, no flying tomorrow, and hopefully we can take a day here and recuperate a bit better.

Today is, of course Dec. 7th.  I made sure to talk to Kaylee about it today, and was pleasantly surprised that she remembered a fair amount about it.  She asked a couple questions, and we moved on, but so many people today don't have any idea.  I read where one educated 18-year-old with top grades and a bright future answered "Was it Germany?" when asked about it, and couldn't remember where Pearl Harbor even was.  People today think that no one will forget 9/11.  Give it a few generations.  This was a nice story from one of the last known survivors...
