I canceled my first student of the day when the winds were a 40-50 degree crosswind gusting up to 35 knots, as it was a bit much for doing pattern work and learning to land for where he was in training. The next two flights were able to go okay, and I flew for 2.2, then 2.0 back to back, getting home around 8 p.m. Again the evening was lovely and reasonable, and again I was too tired to do anything about it by then. One of these days.
We did Kaylee's mouthguard for Tae Kwan Do tonight. You boil water, put this mouth guard into it, pull it out of the boiling water, run cool water over it for a second or two, then pop it in her mouth, bite down and form it around her teeth. Then it works as a good, protective mouth guard in case anyone mis-judges while they are sparring and kicks her in the face too hard. Tomorrow is her first night of sparring, and I know she'll just be doing light moves with the instructor, not another student. Tonight we were in the kitchen and she attacked me. We were doing our own fighting, and of course I was beating her (for now), and finally she stopped and said "Hey. Did you take lessons too?" I said no, and she asked "Then how do you know this stuff?" A mom has to keep some mystery. ;) I won't tell her this, but she's getting taller, faster and stronger, and quickly, and I'm weaker than I used to be, and fatter, and slower. I'm working on it a bit, and still not doing too bad, but if she keeps going...I'm going to hate as much as she's going to enjoy the day she can take me out. ;)
