Late last night I got a text from one of the formation guys--several of the guys were backing out because Sunday's weather didn't look good and they didn't want to go all the way to Kentucky for part of a Saturday. A couple of them were still going, but I decided not to go if I wasn't going to be able to get a good solid practice time in. It's two hours minimum just to get there and back, which is a lot of gas to burn without a better return on "investment", no four-ship flying, etc. So instead I slept in all the way to 8:15 a.m. and went out to Kokomo to fly with a student and send her off on her first solo cross country. The winds were right down the runway, so I had her do a direct crosswind landing on the other runway. She said "But the winds won't be this much of a crosswind where I'm going", and I said "Good, then it won't be any problem after this, right?" :) The cross country went well, thankfully, one more big one to go then on to checkride prep.
We went to Outback this evening, ate way too much, including dessert, and while I should go walk some of that off on the treadmill, I'm going to wait until maybe tomorrow, if I can get back up off the couch even by then. ;)
