Tripping

Steve's alarm was the one that went off at 4:45 this morning.  For me, sleeping in until 6:15 was almost a luxury after the last couple of days.  ;)  He and Nathan and several other folks loaded up in the Cheyenne and went to Florida for the day, making it back around 8 p.m. after getting a little sunshine and good food in.  Steve brought back some beautiful seashells, starfish, etc. for Kaylee (thanks Nathan) and she was thrilled.  They're still spread out on our floor, where they should not be, because I am the most likely person in this house to trip on and/or crush them.  But they're beautiful...

I'd had a student who had scheduled me both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and then I had to bump them for MBros flights.  So today I took him with me in the 340 to Aurora so he could get a little twin time, a new experience, etc.  We flew up to the Chicago area and left the plane there for its annual inspection, and a guy came up in the RG and picked us up.  I got back in time for lunch, then was back up in the 172.  An instrument student felt their regular flying skills were rusty, so wanted to go up and do some stuff.  We hit emergencies, full slips to landing, and a bunch of different stalls, and had a good time.

My arms were feeling better, so I hadn't done the electric probe thingy (TENS unit) on my back for a couple of days.  The doctor who gave it to me saw me today and said "When you start feeling better you're going to quit doing it--don't.  Reduce the frequency, but keep it up until the pain is completely gone and your strength is back."  I laughed, because that's exactly what I had done.  So tonight I hooked it back up, but also tonight I'm hurting pretty good again.  I'm not sure if it was yesterday's workout or today when I had trouble locking the door on the 340 the 3 or 4 times I had to do it and really strained, but just sitting here they ache greatly, hurt to move again.  What a pain.  (No pun intended.)  The day or two of relief helped though.

This morning when it was time to leave for school, Kaylee was snuggling up to me in bed, and when I said "It's time to go", she said "But Daddy hasn't come in and told us it's time to leave yet."  I told her "Daddy's gone, remember, to Florida?"  She said "Are you going anywhere today?"  I said that yes, I was going to the Chicago area, but I'd be back to pick her up from school.  She huffed and said "That's not fair.  You guys are off going places and I'm stuck here.  Doing math."  I told her that we weren't off on vacation or anything, we were working, and she shot me this look of disgust and said "Yeah.  Right. Florida. Working."   She's right, there, I was the only one workin' today.  But I just laughed.  I should have said we've already done 6th grade math class thank you, and when she's 40 or 52 years old she can go on a day trip to Florida too if she wants.  ;)

Everyone but me is asleep and I should be...
