Techno Staring

It's the Great Phone Shuffle around here today.  While the wind howled, we stayed cozy and warm inside, but we spent the day staring at cell phone screens.  :)

My new iPhone is, I think, almost completely ready to roll.  I can tweak in some things, find some apps to put on it, I need a protective cover before I break/scratch it (although I like it a lot better without those covers on there), I still need to change around some screen photos and that type of thing, but it's now fully functioning with all my contacts, music playlists and all that good stuff.  So far not bad.  It's easy to use, because it works just like the iPad.  So, while usually the phones I've had do things I haven't figured out how to work, this one doesn't.  That's both good and...okay.  Siri is excellent.  Love Siri.  I can send voice texts and emails really easily with that, something my Droid never did very accurately.  I'd say something and it would get it wrong and I'd have to correct it, taking longer than if I'd just typed it in the first place.  It's also excellent on providing accurate info without having to use exact phraseology.  So Siri is a big plus.  I now have live ForeFlight on my phone now, another big ole plus.  It's a great backup for navigation, weather, etc. if my iPad dies for any reason.  It has my charts and plates as well as tracking, frequencies, etc.  It's nice to have.  Another nice thing is that my music playlists just automatically show up thanks to The Cloud, so I can use this as my iPod now and not have to worry so much that my other iPod has something wrong with it.  So, there are some definite pluses to go with it.  The minus is that it doesn't have as many options and choices and things you can do with it as the Droids do.  I'm not really sure I need those other things anyway, because I can't come up with a specific, other than cooler texting programs and stuff that doesn't really matter. I'll see what all I've got over the next few days.

Meanwhile, Kaylee now has my former Droid, which is way more phone than a kid needs, but there you have it.  She still needs to work on her contacts, but other than that, she's all set up.  Richard is getting Steve's former Droid, and it's pretty well set up for him, and Steve's new Razor is the last one that's not really very set up yet, because it stinks when you're the tech guy and you're working on everybody else's stuff when they get stuck on something.  ;)

Those paragraphs took up our entire day, and I get to go to bed early here for another 5 a.m. rise and shine show time.  Not that I'm complaining.  If the weather works out, I may be working on the formation stuff this Saturday, which means I need to help offset the fuel bill.  ;)
