Friday

I find myself in an 'off' mood, kind of irritable and generally impatient and slightly morose, and I can probably blame it on the gray day and the temperatures so cold I saw my breath this morning and had to wear a sweatshirt. That's not right when it's June 1st. I even had to turn the pitot heat on in the airplane this morning. Also not right for 5000' in June. It was 400' and a mile and a half over at Muncie, and something like 800' and 10 miles back home, and I dropped off the 340 for some work while Nathan picked up his airplane, so the timing worked out well for both ends of that.

The last six months I have had an above-average number of "interesting aviation events", and I'd like to call an end to that kind of interesting for awhile. It started with the gear collapse on the Viking, moved into a time where a new airplane that sat too long before we got it had several issues, there were a couple of interesting weather issues, and a couple of my own mistakes. Now that I've run the gamut on all the ways things can get interesting, I'm looking for a period of time where things get a little dull in that realm. If beatings continue until morale improves, well, consider it improved. Or well beaten. Or something. ;)

One thing that made me smile today was a poster that somebody posted that said: "The time to worry is not when I yell and scream. The time to worry is when I get really quiet and don't say anything. That would be a good time to make yourself scarce." That's me. I don't yell and scream anyway, but the more quiet I get the less good it usually is. ;)

Kaylee's iStep results came in, and she did really well for 5th grade. She was ranking 98, 99 percent on a lot of areas. I think her worst topic, if I remember correctly, was Math, and she still was well above average on that topic too. Always nice to see. I'm not ready for 6th grade yet. Let's just enjoy summer, shall we!

I'm glad it's Friday, not that it matters much in this line of work, but I'll take it!
