(Even though I'm not really Irish).
It was a great Saturday. You couldn't hardly ask for nicer weather--light winds, warm sun, some puffy white clouds for a backdrop. I flew with a student once the morning fog burned off, and we had air smooth as glass to work on the pattern and take offs and landings. Steve brought me in some lunch, and the kids all played outside until about 7 pm when we left, driving bikes and golf cart and scooters and walking all over and just getting some fresh air and sunshine for the first weekend in quite awhile. After lunch I went up with Mike in the Super Decathlon; I joked that for St. Patrick's Day I thought it was appropriate to see if I could make something turn green. ;) We climbed up around 6500' above the cloud deck, and I worked on making a couple different type of rolls smoother and better. Mike did one maneuver, and when we went inverted and hit -1G, I came up out of my seat a little too much. I wasn't strapped down tightly enough. Once we got right side up, I fixed that. ;) I should have brought a hair scrunchy too. My hair went all over the place. Heh. I took a camera up with me (sealed into a pocket where it wouldn't get loose) to take an inverted photo, but I didn't end up doing it. We flew for a little over an hour, which was great, and I decided rather than start in on another maneuver, I'd digest on these first and hit some more next time. I enjoyed that, and it was productive, too. I don't need to be Bob Hoover on aerobatics, but I have certain personal...standards. Besides, it's fun and a great workout. :)
The whole airport was hopping. Our 172 didn't stop flying until late in the afternoon. The RG gave Boy Scout rides for several hours. The Decathlon was up 3 or 4 flights. Steve had a flight in a guy's new Cherokee 235. There were airplanes all over the place today. I can't believe this is mid-March. I will SO take it.
Everyone got stuff done and lots of fresh air today. Whadda nice day. :)
