We had quite a feast this morning; everyone slept in, then wandered down and started working on the Brunch to end Brunches. Homemade waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fruit, etc. We weren't hungry for dinner until after 7 pm and I didn't even catch Kaylee snacking, and that's unusual for her. ;) After everyone had an hour to digest or so, we all gathered around and opened gifts after Tanner read the Christmas story from the Bible. Even Boomer the dog got a gift, although I think the cats were all out of luck. I see Kaylee every once in awhile as she races by, and this morning she stopped in my room long enough to snuggle and talk for a few minutes before she was back on her mission of playing.
Tonight after dinner, Lon & Cathy took Steve and I to a concert in Franklin for New Year's Eve. If the Nashville area knows how to do one thing, it's music. The concert started at 9:30 with a new, small group just putting their 2nd record out. Young kids, two brothers and two sisters together. One of the singer sisters graduated with my niece Alonna, and they're not doing too bad, as an opening act at the Live Theater of Franklin. :) The main act was Mike Farris, a rock, blues, traditional gospel and soul singer. He's got three African-American backup singers, several guitarists, a sax player, a trumpet player, a drummer and a keyboard player, and these guys are good. I mean, that guy can SING, and he brings a whole lot of energy to every song. When we first got there at 9:30, midnight seemed a long way away, but the time just flew by, and before you knew it we were getting our free glass of champagne and counting down to the new year with the band on stage. It was a great concert, and my ears were ringing by the time we left. There was so much energy that it's 3 a.m. my time and we're mostly all still awake and going from it. Pretty neat, and a better way to spend New Year's Eve than watching Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. ;)
Again, I have photos, but it'll have to wait until we get back.
Hope you all had the enjoyable New Year's Eve of your choice. :)
