Wrap-Up

So the reactions to the Great Salmon Debacle have been pretty funny. Most of us have "been there", right? On both ends of the tale, as the forced child and the forcing parent? With Ernie it was peas. His mom made him sit there for a couple hours until he stuffed down peas, and to this day, a man in his 60s won't touch peas. Justin G's was broccoli. Mom send me an email and said "Ham Balls! 'Nough said. ;)" That was mine. I told her, the difference is, ham balls are DISGUSTING. ;) Again-to this day if I think too hard about ham balls I can gag. Steve recalled sitting at a table for a couple hours in order to finish a meal that was less than his favorite. So yes, I realize that the kiddo will never touch salmon again. But, you see, around here, we're pretty easy. I know she hates Chinese, so I don't make her eat it. I had her try some, she didn't like it, I haven't made her do it since. (Even though Chinese is pretty much rice, vegetables and chicken/beef, all of which she likes independently, making this dislike very illogical, which I can't stand.) That's the usual rule--you gotta try it, and then if you hate it, I won't force it. That's why I only gave her a few bites to begin with. To try it. But then she looked at it, looked at me, and emphatically said "Eeeew! I am NOT eating that."

Annnnd, that's not gonna work for me.

To finish the tale, this morning she apologized to Steve again for making such a big production out of the whole thing, and he said "That's okay honey, you can make up for it tonight--we're having the same thing." She said "DAAAAADY!" Heheheheh Aren't you glad you're not our kid? ;)

(No, of course we're not having the same thing tonight.)

It was too windy for my poor pre-solo guy to work on his flare today, which worked out just fine because then Nathan said he wanted the Mustang run up this morning as early as possible. It is a much more pleasant task of pulling it out and pushing it in when the wind isn't howling, throwing icy knives through your clothes. Of course once I was in it, I just shut the canopy and things warmed up just fine. ;) It was cold-she was cold-but once we got going it's still the best sound I can think of. I didn't bring a headset with me this time, and I'll tell you what--mental note to self--ear plugs or a headset even if you're not going anywhere is a good plan. :)

I took what is a boring video in general, I know. It's just me getting in, sitting down, waiting for it to warm up a little, etc. I would have liked to get it starting up, but starting it already requires (of me anyway) two to three hands, and holding a camera at the same time wasn't going to happen. There also isn't footage of it being run up at a very high RPM, because when I did bring it up after it was good and warm, I wanted both hands again. But for my own posterity, anyway, there's the view from the front seat...
