I sat in a 172 all day today, and spent most of it in the pattern on a gusty day. I'm all caught up on pattern work in the 172 for the day--I had trouble rustling up my usual peppy self on that last flight, getting bounced all over the sky, wallowing around, and around, and around. That's when you see that the rudder isn't coordinated on the climbout, or someone is chasing the airspeed indicator instead of looking outside, or whatever, and you're just too lethargic to say it One More Time that day. It's better if there are breaks in between flights or they are with different people. Today I was scheduled from 10:30 a.m. with no breaks until 5:30 p.m. I took a break anyway, went into town and snarfed a lunch, because yesterday my lunch was a Twix bar and a Diet Coke somewhere over Illinois, and by George I am far enough along in age and in this business to be able to eat a doggone lunch. ;)
I entertained myself after my last flight, when I was taking the 172 back from Glenndale to its home base at Kokomo by myself, by pulling the power off on downwind and attempting to land on the numbers without touching the power. Winds were a little crosswind component at 19 knots. I touched down at the beginning edge of the first stripe after the numbers, and I'll leave whether that's good or not up to your personal interpretation. ;)
Kaylee's Netbook from her school has been getting utilized quite a bit for emailing her teachers, emailing classmates, getting her homework assignments online, doing math, spelling and a few other projects on it, etc. Kind of neat. One thing Steve and I thought she handled pretty well...a girl in her class emailed her and said "G is not my friend any more because of you. Thanks a lot." Kaylee responded with "I'm sorry, G told me she was your friend, but if not, it's not my fault, it's her choice." The girl came back with "Well she's not my friend." and last I heard, Kaylee was going to just say "I hope you guys can work it out." Which puts her out of the middle of it. I was kind of proud of how she handled that.
I do believe it's pizza night. I'm too zoned to figure anything else out. ;)
