Wednesday was sort of a recovery day. I slept in until past 9 while Steve took Kaylee to school for me, and then after lunch I took care of the usual house and business running around. I also had started "The Help" (book), and wanted to finish it up, which kept me up too late, which isn't brilliant when you're already running low on sleep. But I did get it finished. ;)
This morning was a little harder to rise and shine, but I got Kaylee off to school okay, had a flight in the morning in the 172, and by the time we were done it was already hot. After lunch I had another flight for an hour, this time in the Champ. It's the fellow's second time in a taildragger, we had a 15 knot direct crosswind, and he nailed it. At least it's cooler in there with the open windows, but we were still sweating when we were done. As I did the shopping and running around, the heat index was at 104. The air conditioning isn't working properly in the Suburban, so I drive around with the windows down, which helps for a breeze but it's pretty much hot oven air coming in. A few hours of that's pretty draining, actually!
After school, I took Kaylee shopping. She has outgrown her jean shorts and her flip flops have broken, so we went on the hunt. Three stores later, we could not find any jean shorts, just jeans and a few capris, and it wasn't until the last store, two hours later, that she found a pair of flip flops that were stylish and comfortable. That was a long two-hour journey to find a shirt and a pair of flip flops, but hey, we got it done. Now, where to find jean shorts in September. Maybe online...
Since the month ended yesterday, you can guess what I've been working on. I worked on them throughout the evening until about 11 before I called it a night. I'm going to try to get to bed earlier tonight...I'm already yawning. :) I've got three potential flights tomorrow, and again the heat index is supposed to be 100-105F. Beautiful. *sigh*
