My morning guy canceled, so I called up my afternoon gal and asked if she wanted to switch to morning when it was cooler and smoother. That worked out for both of us, so we headed to Sheridan to do takeoffs and landings on a skinny runway, making sure we were back in time for the lunch run.
Nathan needed to take the Cheyenne over to Muncie to have something looked at real quickly, so when my student and I pulled up in the 172, five other people were standing there waiting for us to arrive. The seven of us piled into the Cheyenne and enjoyed a nice quick flight over, a good meal, and a nice flight home, too. On the way home we climbed up to 9200' or so, then just coasted all the way back to Kokomo. Why? Why not? ;)

By the time we got back, the day had seriously heated up. I don't know what the heat index was, but the regular temp was back at 90. I took a towel with me on the last flight of the day, to put on the plastic seat and give me something to sit on besides plastic. It didn't do much good, and I was still drenched when I got out. It was a good training day for everyone with the calmer winds right down the runway, but boy, did I mention it's hot?
So now texting while driving is illegal in the state of Indiana. One more potential moving violation. At the airport the other day, one of our friends/club members who is a police officer came up to me and told me that he'd been following me the other day. He said "I expected to catch you speeding." I said "You mean you didn't??" He said "Well, your speed was averaging about my speed, so it wasn't too bad. But I did see you roll through the stop sign at 300." I flinch. He smiled and said "I've rolled through that one too. I moved the barricades a little out of the road at such and such, and if you're careful you can squeeze through. The road hasn't been torn up yet, it's just blocked off, and it's very unhandy for our path to the airport. Just be careful." And no, I'm not telling which blocked off road I got to drive down all by myself. ;)
