I Give

It felt SO good to take a shower this morning. I felt clean, and fresh, and refreshed. Then I got in my Jeep and drove to Glenndale. Within 15 minutes of watching my student preflight the airplane, I was already sweating. After .7 of flying, even the student, who was also drenched in sweat, gave up. It was so miserable that it felt like you couldn't breathe. At 9 a.m. it was this bad.

So we go to lunch, and I have a 2:30 p.m. flight too. I'm looking out the window and hoping for a storm, but it's passing to the north of us. And for the first time this summer, I just couldn't bring myself to get back in the airplane from 2:30-4:30, you know, when it's good and hot. I was seriously considering calling and canceling, for the first time ever, for heat. And then that student texted me and asked if it was too hot to fly. He made the decision not to go so I didn't have to, and man I was grateful. Around 4 p.m. I opened the deck door and it felt like going into a sauna, so I looked it up and saw the heat index was reading 110 F. After the flight this morning was so bad, I just thought to myself, "I give. I can't get back in there this afternoon."

So instead we are working from home. Billing that we're almost half a month behind on, email responses for business stuff, laundry that needed done badly and asap (including one very sweaty helmet liner), a few blog entries to catch up on, and I've got some pictures to do too. Okay, a LOT of photos to do. But the main one is my CFI renewal. I've started in on that as it expires the end of this month and I'll be leaving for Oshkosh soon. Would somebody else like to do the CFI renewal for me? Anyone? It's just 16 hours of your life or so. C'mon...
