Eye Yi Yi

I only got in .4 on a flight this morning, because the clouds were low and kept getting lower, and the visibility started dropping too. When the student lost sight of the runway while we were still in the pattern, we gave up and came on in. (Yes it was still legal VFR.)

After lunch I had an eye appointment--I am almost out of contacts, I don't want to be up at Oshkosh and not have decent vision going on, and according to some new federal law as of Jan. 1st, you have to have an eye appointment every 12 months in order to get more of your prescription contacts given to you. Side bar....WHY? Why does the federal government care if my contact prescription is out of date or not? Why do they care if I want to spend two years wearing the same prescription contacts? I can't stand arbitrary laws protecting me from, what? My own less than perfectly sharp vision? Give me a break. Anyway. During my federally mandated eye exam, I learned today that I have an astigmatism in my right eye now and a small one in my left eye. (I would have gotten to that in my own time next month when I got back from Oshkosh, but hey). I have new contacts on order and a new set of lenses for my glasses on order, all of which they swear will be in before we leave on Friday. Hope so!

Kaylee's been calling and Facebooking her cousins to keep in touch, and has only said about ten times today that she misses everyone. I'm thinking maybe she'll be back to herself in time for us to head out of town. Maybe. :)
