Kaylee is a major night owl. Since she's been on vacation from school, she's been staying awake too late and sleeping in the next morning. So the other day it was getting silly late, so I went to get her. She wouldn't really wake up. So I went back in about 30 minutes later and literally dragged her out of bed. I took a shower, and when I got out, she was back in bed. So the third time I came back to her room, I was carrying an ice cube with me, which I deposited down her pants. She came up out of that bed shrieking like a vampire that hit a sun beam, chasing me down with evil in her eye and an ice cube in her hand. She chased me across the house, and I was laughing so hard I couldn't hardly breathe. She was unsuccessful in her attempt to pay me back, but she was at least up and out of bed for good. ;)
Our trip yesterday was uneventful, if not looong. We had a tough headwind, even down at 4000', and I mostly watched our groundspeed crawl by at 100 knots. Sheepers. It also was raining for awhile, and night, and a little IFR. Kaylee decided she had to go to the restroom, which she was decidedly out of luck on, so to distract her I would turn on the landing light. In the darkness, the landing light makes the rain look like streaks of flowing light. It's purty. :) When we got to the airport, I just landed straight in on the runway, even though it was a quartering tailwind, just to avoid having to add five minutes to our time by doing a normal pattern. I shut down the plane, and Kaylee was out of the back seat dancing around on the tarmac until I said "Don't wait for me-just go!" She was gone for the building and we had finally arrived...
I learned this morning that we had missed an earthquake. Apparently there was a 3.8 to 4.2 magnitude earthquake that was centered 15 miles to the ESE of Kokomo. Huh! As far as I know there wasn't any damage to anything, as I've just heard of bouncing frosted flakes in bowls and guys in showers feeling the earth move under their feet and one tower controller who got a bit of a ride in the tower, but other than that, it seems to have been a non-event. Interesting, though!
Steve and Cathy went shopping and running errands, Kaylee and crew played games all day, I sat a lot and worked on some computer stuff, and the hot tub got some action today too. Ahhh. :)
