Snooze

Every once in a blue moon, I hit this weird insomnia wall. It's super easy for me to fall into a "stay up too late then be wiped out all day" thing, because I am naturally a night owl, but I've been really good about not getting into that for quite awhile here. The insomnia thing is different. I was awake until almost 5 a.m. last night (this morning). It's not a "boy I'm tired but I'm going to fight it and do something else instead" thing, it is a flat-out I Am Not Tired At All. I computered until about 2:30 a.m. or so, and then with nothing on TV, no desire to do billing, everyone here asleep including the cat who was passed out on my arm, I just read in bed until I finished a book, then waited to fall asleep. I woke up around 8:30, lounged around for awhile, realized I was actually awake after all, and I've been going ever since. Just kind of strange. It's not a caffeine thing, it wasn't a mental spin-up thing, I was just....Awake! 8)

While I was sleeping, Richard and Ann sneaked out and headed south, and neither Kaylee nor I heard them. Steve did though, he went out to wave them off towards a safe journey. And I'd say that makes it officially winter around here.

Kaylee's teacher sent home a "Family Project" for us to do. You take a turkey and disguise him as something else that represents your family, to keep him from getting eaten for Thanksgiving. You have to cut him out, create a costume out of fabric or noodles or beads or whatever, decorate him, and write up a thing about him. It's not a project for the kid, it's a project for the family. Kaylee is looking forward to doing it, so I don't begrudge that of her, but frankly, I don't need homework. I have enough homework and projects of my own without being assigned homework from her 4th grade class. I know, how very un-motherly of me. I'm sure we'll have fun doing it, because she's fun to do creative things with. Anyway, we talked about disguising him as a Colts player, as a kiddo with SMA (decorate a wheelchair, etc.), or, of course, as a Pilot. He's due Tuesday, so we'll find out soon what he becomes. :)

I'm spending the day plugging away on billing, Kaylee is playing and working on her chores and cleaning up her end of the house, and Steve installed our new dishwasher today (just in time to save us from an overrun of dirty dishes!). Kaylee was interested for about 30 seconds in helping me load the new dishwasher, and then she was over it. It's funny how even a dishwasher can be exciting if you didn't have a well-working one before. We just ran our first load, and it was SO much quieter than the other machine that it was really nice. Now to open it up and see if it actually cleaned the dishes, too. One can only hope. Oh, the excitement. ;)

On to accounting, housework and watching the Colts (hopefully) win...
