Booked Up

This week my schedule has blown up like crazy--Steve's, too.

As I was driving Kaylee to school today, she looked over at the house next door and said "I miss Grandma & Grandpa". She missed Grandpa waving goodbye to her every morning.

Kaylee turned in her turkey project today, and the teacher thought he was really cute. He wore a pilot's captain hat, a leather jacket, scarf, cool pilot sunglasses, and looked quite studly!

Me, I dropped Kaylee off at school, went on out to Kokomo and got into the Cub to bring it back to Glenndale. Had trouble getting it started, but finally Steve C. helped out there, and now I got it covered for the future. :) It was a nice flight over to Glenndale. Smooth sunset evenings and smooth sunrise mornings make for most excellent times to fly a Cub, if one must fly a Cub. ;) Got to Glenndale and went up in the 172 with a student for some pattern work. Finished that, and Chuck took me in the Citabria back over to Kokomo to get my car, so I could drive over and pick up Kaylee at school, as she was dismissed at 11:30 a.m. today. I took her home, then turned around and headed to Sheridan for a 12:30 flight in the 180 (for more pattern work). Finished that up in time to come home and help Kaylee with her homework for an hour before taking her to her guitar lesson. Picked up dinner, she did more homework until pretty late, Steve and I finished up the mailing for billing for October finally, and onward we go.

Kaylee was nervous about going to her guitar lesson, afraid she wouldn't do a good job. When she came out, she was bouncy. He'd been surprised at how well she did this week, told her he hadn't expected her to come that far. He also told her he was going to skip a few things and just give her a harder song to learn, and he set her up with the chords for Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight". She thinks it's hard, but I know if she keeps working at it she'll get it. Steve plays with her; he'll be on the piano, and the other night he got out his Saxophone for the first time in years, and he'll make up blues songs, chord changes, have her follow along with him on the guitar. That's why she did so well this week--the practice wasn't just sitting on her bed playing a chord or two, she was doing some jam sessions with her dad, having a good time and learning at the same time. And I really enjoyed sitting back and listening to them do it, too. Awesome! :)
