Today is the first official day of Summer, though unofficially it has been summer hot for quite awhile here. It was mostly a work, paperwork, errand day for us, nothing exciting, although I hear that Kaylee got to go to an indoor waterpark and have lots of fun. :)
My big excitement for the day was when I was taking a shower this morning, and we lost power due to thunderstorms. There I am, alone in the house, in a room with no windows inside another room with no windows, with no power, no light, and soap in my hair. I was grateful the power outage only lasted a few seconds, let's just say!
Father's Day passed a little quietly around here, with me taking Kaylee south and giving the father figure a day to himself to piddle and fix things around the house. But I do want to take a minute and say Happy Father's Day. Steve is a good man, a good dad, an example for Kaylee growing up to know how a man should treat his family. He'll joke about body functions or have serious talks about heaven, will answer her questions honestly, treats her and her mother with respect, always is her biggest fan and cheerleader, is always supportive of her goals, will be strict about manners or character, and lax about junk food and bed time. It makes me happy to know that some day when she is out in the world dating (ack), she'll have a yardstick of sorts that those young men will have to live up to. :)
