When I woke up this morning, I was fairly sure I wasn't gonna make it. Sounds melodramatic for me, but...I couldn't get up for anything, not a bathroom break or a drink or medication or food or even checking my email ;), until after 1 p.m. Felt like a truck hit me, and I kept going from burning hot to freezing cold-I'd put on a sweatshirt, t-shirt, lie under thick blankets, and shake from cold. My throat feels on fire, and when I found a Chloroseptic Spray bottle, and found the fluid level was too low to get any out and the lid wouldn't unscrew to just drink it, I almost teared up. I have spent this entire day sleeping, and when I can, dragging into the kitchen to refill my ice water bottle to try to keep hydrated. The fever, shaking, and sweating has got to have been burning off water at a high rate. Of course drinking is excruciating with my throat this way, but it's important unless somebody has an IV handy. Lymph nodes in my neck are sore too, and when I'd breathe too hard I'd feel the junk in my lungs, but coughing was SO painful that I just tried to ignore it. Those aren't all my ailments but surely it's enough to give you an idea as why I felt like I wasn't going to make it. Thank goodness for friends who offered to stop by with double-ought shot to help put me out of my misery this morning. ;) Sometime after 7 p.m. I started feeling a little better, got up and got some soup, typed this, got more water, and am contemplating that long dangerous commitment item...a shower. Once you get halfway through that, you can't exactly change your mind and lie down if you need to, you know. ;)
Poor Steve had mostly been left alone to do all the Poker Run prep the night before. Fortunately one friend jumped in and helped, because he had to run a couple of the last boxes around, go to the store to get the food for everybody tomorrow, had to get money from the bank for change items, set up the tables and such at the airport; there are just a ton of things a person showing up might not think of that had to be done. He's been running like crazy and it's almost 8 p.m...
Kaylee had Carnival Day at school today. I had volunteered to help, but that obviously wasn't going to happen. When I finally made the phone call, my voice wasn't even recognizable as human, but I got across the message who I was and what I was not going to be doing that day. Kaylee said everyone had a great time, and she came home with a little face painting, a few prizes, and a smile that it was Friday, tomorrow is her sleepover, and no school for awhile. Kaylee's happy, at least. :)
Now Kaylee's saying "Mommy, you should be sleeping!" I think she's right. That'll do for now!
