I kept Kaylee home from school today. She's not really sick, but she's not 100% either, she didn't get enough sleep last night on top of it, there was nothing else going on today in aviation land, so I kept her home with me to rest, drink water, eat carrots, and relax. She seems to be doing all right, minus a bit of a cough, so tomorrow I'll send her back to school and hope she's had enough of a break to keep from getting sick.
She did go to dance this evening after a day of rest, and they got their ballet costumes in for the recital next month. They are a pretty shade of...dark mauve? Very pretty. The jazz outfits will just be put together at home using white and black to the song "Cruella Deville" from 101 Dalmations, and the tap outfits are red and black, and not in yet.
I'm going to talk about ladies' delicates for a second, so you gentlemen can skip this paragraph. (Yeah, right. But you'll wish you had.) So, ladies, you know how when you lose 20 pounds some things require a change. Most of my jeans are baggy now, but I can live with that. T-shirts don't care a whole lot. Then there are underthings. So today I went shopping. While I wear $5 Glenndale t-shirts, whatever jeans I've owned for the last ten years that still fit, and tennis shoes until the soles fall off, Victoria's Secret has the most comfortable underthings I've ever found, and they know it, and they charge accordingly, by the way. So anyway, that's where I went. You know what else they have there? A "Bra Fitting Station". You go back there, they measure you, then they pull a drawer out that has bras of every style they carry in various colors, all in your size, that you can go into a dressing room and try on, to see which style fits your needs best. When you find the style you want, you go forth into the store, to the appropriate section, where they have more drawers of your size in all the styles and you pick the color you want in the styles you chose. Now, this trying on process can be amusing. You men might be amazed. One of the bras in the box "adds two sizes". It adds two sizes because it's three inches thick and shoves everything up. This was not what I was looking for, and the only reason I could think of for owning it would be playing Dolly Parton or a Jersey Girl at Halloween, but I was there, and it was there, so I tried it on, and promptly started laughing-out loud-in my dressing room. (This is not appropriate dressing room behavior, but I didn't know anyone there, so hey.) When I left the store, I qualified for a 'free' umbrella. It's a pink striped umbrella, nice and big, and I actually like the size of it. The only problem is that it is in Victoria's Secret's colors, which I could possibly get away with, but... it also has "Victoria's Secret" stamped on it in black. Huh. I'm having trouble picturing myself walking around on the ramp at some air show in the drizzle waving my pink V.S. umbrella around. I got in enough trouble for having a purse and a flight suit on at the same time. That umbrella would be a disaster. ;)
Weather permitting I have two flights tomorrow, but we'll see. Mother Nature is back to not feeling very cooperative this week...
