Loose Ends

The one formation flight I got to take on Saturday with the Bonanza guys? My "lead" pilot was Gene Simmons. Now if you don't know who that is, never mind, it won't be funny, but I will say that Gene looks a lot different in person. Thin, gray hair, handlebar mustache, and flies a Bonanza. And very, very nice. :)

Also, flying formation in the Baron was easier than flying formation in the T-6. I can fly the Baron without thinking about it, but the T-6 is not as much of an extension of me yet and you can really tell it when you're fighting to make constant corrections all the time to be where you want. One of these days I'll get enough consistent time in the T-6 for a long enough period of time, and until then I'll just have to wrestle it.

The airport at Athens had a sign on the wall that made me smile and decide, along with Pancake the Dog, and the view of Tennessee hills, that I did like this place, even if it did make me almost late on a flight. Words to live by:
I hit a bit of a wall this morning-I was incredibly tired, all the lack of sleep and busyness piled up, and when my alarm went off I about couldn't get out of bed. Steve took Kaylee to school and I crawled back in bed for a little while. I didn't get back to sleep because I couldn't turn off my cell phone lest I be needed, but it went off three times with texts I didn't need to do anything about, and then someone came up the driveway, and I gave up. But even just relaxing a little instead of running around recharged the batteries a bit. I went on to have a busy day, lots of errands and more billing and some house stuff and helping Kaylee and the store and so forth. I was supposed to get up at six a.m. to go on another flight to St. Louis tomorrow, but it's been bumped to a later time, so I just have to get up at my normal "get Kaylee to school" early time, which suddenly doesn't seem quite as early. ;) I'll still be flying from 9 a.m. through to about 6 p.m. or so, but at least I'm not starting off at 6 a.m.

Kaylee's last night of Awanas was tonight. She said three sections, said goodbye to her Awanas friends, and had a good time. Her book, bag and shirt are going away until next fall, when she will be in 4th grade...
