"Back Home Again, In Indiana..."

Hopefully you can hear Jim Nabors' voice there. :)

We came back today to give Steve a chance to go do a computer job and Kaylee a full day to unwind at home before being thrust back into school bright and early on Monday morning. She always feels down and weird after a big holiday or vacation or visits with grandparents and cousins and such, and she's had weeks of great fun, and now there's the inevitable let-down that happens to probably all of us. So hopefully tomorrow will bore her enough to make her ready to get back to school. ;)

Kaylee didn't want to go, but she never wants to go. She said "Why can't I just stay here??" We're saying "Um, because we might miss you?" We brought up her life back in Kokomo but she says she's not sure what to do with her life now. That's a common theme for her when she spends so much time in a wonderful non-reality time like she has been. Here she is waving goodbye to everybody on the front porch...

The flight home was uneventful again. Bruhaha cold, but uneventful. The airplane was a tad chilly even down there, but she started like a champ and got us home with heat going full bore. Kaylee didn't feel well because at first I was having to do a lot of turns and such for Nashville. After lying down in the back with my coat and a blanket around her and taking a nice long warm nap, she felt much better and we flew the rest of the way home in icy blue skies. Just north of Indianapolis you could see almost a line of demarcation where the fields went from brown to white, where the snowfall began. We thought it was cold in Tennessee but we were wrong. It's cold HERE. It's twenty degrees colder here than there and it was below freezing there! You get out of the plane here and your nose and lungs freeze. We didn't even top of the plane with fuel-we'll do that next time. We just loaded up bags as fast as possible and got out of there. Even the Jeep doors didn't want to open.

As always we enjoyed our time with my Mom & Ernie, and then we enjoyed our time down in Tennessee. The Cherry's have moved to a different house now, and Kaylee had fun exploring and learning the new house too, and the hot tub was her favorite new addition. ;) It's always special having everyone together for a little while including Richard & Ann. I'm not quite ready for January and February to be here, as I find them the two most depressing months out of the entire year, but I'll try to just keep my eye on Spring and one foot in front of the other, just like the rest of America.

My camera batteries are charging, my pictures are downloaded to the computer, edited and posted, Kaylee's & my bags are both unpacked, the main bag and the Christmas presents are unpacked, my email is caught up already, my laundry is running as I type this, the girl is fast asleep with her hand on Roadie, Steve is on the deck relaxing, and I am sitting pretty for an evening of unwinding at home. Here's to 2010!
