Winter Solstice

So, today is not only the first day of winter, it is also the longest night of the year/shortest day of the year. Theoretically that should be depressing, but for me I'll take knowing that from here on out the days start getting longer and that spring is next.

I don't care if it's not even Christmas yet. I want sunshine.

Today after lunch I wasn't feeling all that well--perhaps Long John Silver's wasn't the best choice to make for eating out or even eating much at all for the first time since a stomach virus. So when I got home I decided to lie down for about an hour in my room. I was only there for a few minutes when Kaylee came climbing into bed with me, supposedly to warm herself up because I'm the "heater". When I woke up feeling a little better about 40 minutes later, Kaylee had thrown her arms and legs over the top of me and the balloon I'd tied to her from LJS's was floating over my head still attached to her wrist. She was heavy breathing deep asleep, Dulcie was lying on my pillow and Roadie was lying on my feet, asleep. Everything that was alive in this house was sleeping on top of me except the plants. I tend to have that effect, I've noticed. Babies tend to fall asleep on me, pets tend to calm down or sleep on/by me, and I bore everyone else into a coma too. ;) Seriously, that girl doesn't sleep until her body gives her no choice, but I do tend to have that effect on things that cuddle up to me for long...

I thought this was really cute-check out the things you can do these days for kids. :)

These quotes all came in today under the title Power of the Mind. And lest someone think this is only a "humanistic" point of view, Solomon in the book of Proverbs from the Bible agrees even with Napoleon. Bet you don't hear that too often. ;)
-------------------------------------------------

“When we take control of our mental state by deliberately choosing our thoughts and attitudes, we can alter the meaning we associate to the experiences we have and results we see in our life.”
~Clayton J. Moore

“Our minds become magnetized with the dominating thoughts we hold in our minds, and these magnets attract to us the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts.”
~Napoleon Hill

“Consult not your fears, but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what is still possible for you to do.”
~Pope John XXIII

“Our destiny changes with our thoughts; we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do, when our habitual thoughts correspond with our desires.”
~Orison Swett Marden
