Weekend Warriors

Early this morning Richard and Ann headed South for the winter. We said our goodbyes last night, and they were gone by the time Kaylee and I woke up--Steve and Dulcie waved at them from the deck though. :) Kaylee was sad to see them go and we will miss having them next door.

The weather was gorgeous this weekend, so warm and sunny that I shut off all house temperature regulation and just opened up a bunch of windows and let the fresh air in. Steve and Kaylee and the two cats spent most of today and much of yesterday outside doing "stuff". I came out for awhile in the evening and played ball, frisbee, swing-pushing, etc. Dulcie kept climbing up onto the roof of the house and then not being able to get down on her own. She just loves to climb up on the highest thing possible. She also spent a lot of time at the base of a tree staring up at a squirrel she'd chased up there that had subsequently departed the area a long time ago. Kaylee came in tonight with dirty feet, hair and clothes, so I threw her in the tub, and thus ended a fun weekend outdoors for her. I don't know what all they did out there. I know they washed the Corvette and started up the house generator to make sure it worked and played games and sat in chairs and talked. I could hear them laughing out there. :) She's a lucky girl to have a daddy who not only spends so much time with her when he can, but usually has just as much fun doing it as she does.

I read a Michael Connelly book on Saturday and took a nap. How's that for lazy? It was nice, thank you. :) Today I made up for it a bit. I made it to the store to get groceries for the next couple of weeks, mailed off some photos at the post office, went to Lowe's for some house stuff we needed, stopped for a late lunch, then came on home and got to work. See, walking around outside in the almost-70-degree-temperature-day with the warm light breeze and the blue sky, I felt like a big girl on a diet walking around in a chocolate factory with the smell of warm gooey chocolate wafting past her all the time. You just have to think about something else besides airplanes errr chocolate. So instead I got a lot done at home, which needed it anyway. Decluttered the kitchen hot spot counter, did all the laundry and dishes and swept the kitchen floor and vacuumed the living room and straightened up the living room and worked through a small pile of papers that needed done since last week's mass snail mail accomplishments and did some billing for the airport and some for SMA Support as well. I watched the Colts win as I worked. I even fixed dinner. It was Chinese, which Kaylee hates. She said "Mommy, you aren't really going to make me eat that, are you??" I've made her eat it in the past, several times, and she has hated it from day one without wavering. So for that meal I break my own rule of "I'm not a short order chef and you will eat what we eat when I fix it" and I let her eat something else. Hey, I remember Ham Balls and what they used to do to me when I was a kid choking them down! ;)

The day isn't over, and while things are looking good around here, I'm still working on some paperwork and one last desk top that needs decluttered, after which hopefully I'll be prepared for Monday to arrive. I guess. If I must...
