Wednesday

Isn't it nice how some of Hollywood is coming to the defense of poor, beleaguered Roman Polanski? After all, it was over 30 years ago that he ran from the country after admitting to drugging and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, and she doesn't want to have to relive the details again, and a half of a million dollars exchanged hands, and he makes such wonderful, powerful movies, so why don't we all just forget about it? And how DARE they arrest him in a neutral country at a film festival where he should have been safe from being arrested for what was it again? Oh yes, drugging and assaulting a little girl. There's even an international petition to try to help poor Roman out. Whoopi Goldberg and Harvey Weinstein want us to have compassion for Roman. Harvey thinks that this is a shocking way to treat such a great man, and states that "Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion." I'm sorry, I think I just choked on my Diet Coke. "Hollywood" and "moral compass" and "compassion", yes, those are definitely words I put in the same sentence. Ugh. About all of it. Ugh.

Kaylee is having fun with her blog for now; we'll see if she keeps it up. I kind of doubt it, but that's okay, it was an experiment for her, and she got a kick out of the comments that were left for her. :) It also hasn't been a bad teaching experience on a couple of levels...

The other day Kaylee came home from school and was just cantankerous. At one point she stood in the kitchen with an icky scowl on her face, arms folded across her chest, just stewing. I looked at her stormy face, and started to get on her for her attitude, but it was really uncharacteristic of her, so I picked her up, carried her to the couch, and just laid down with my arms around her. She BURST into tears and said "I don't know what's wrong with me Mommy, I just feel SO eMOtional!" It actually made me laugh a little. After about thirty minutes of just snuggling and talking, she was back to her happy self. I'm not sure what set her off, but sometimes a girl just needs a hug, you know? :)
