Second Verse Same as the First

In other words, nothing much new to report today. It's still cold and gray out--we are almost 20 degrees colder than normal for this time of year, and I'm not happy about it. We're also coming up on the next "Fall Back" time change, which is going to goof up my zulu time figuring (pilot thing) again for the next 5 months. I got this one committed to memory just in time to have it switch on me...

Errands, paperwork and computer work pretty much comprised the day again, with a lot more to go still. The day did get an interesting break as the entire country, including Wall Street, stopped for hours to watch a helium-filled home-made mushroom-looking balloon thing float across Colorado with what they thought was a six-year-old boy trapped inside, only to find out he was hiding in a box in his attic after all. I watched it too, imagining my six-year-old at 8,000' rocking around like that. I'm so glad he was okay after all, but that kid's brothers have some serious explaining to do.

One of the things I did today was get the paperwork ready to send in to the FAA to get a replacement Commercial Single & Multi-Engine Instrument pilot's certificate. See, mine was from the early 90s, and was paper. They've since moved to shiny green plastic ones with Wilbur & Orville Wright on them, and they are forcing everybody to swap over to the shiny plastic or your certificate will become invalid. Well, that's not nice. I like my paper one. Plus the new plastic ones will have a new issuance date instead of the original issuance date, meaning my Commercial Pilot's License will have been issued in 2009 now. Phoo. My last real one, for the multi-engine addition, was issued on Halloween in 199something. That's a much better date. I remember that was quite a grueling checkride and I didn't get to fly home until after dark, and I was looking down over the city and seeing all the Halloween decorations, the people out with flashlights, etc. and I felt like it was not a "wicked" day at all. :)

Kaylee is still writing in her blog pretty often. She got a big grin out of it when her teacher left her a comment today, and enjoys reading her Grandma's and others notes too. :) She really does that on her own. I don't tell her what to write or type it for her-as a matter of fact she is mimicking me and doesn't like it if you look over her shoulder when she's typing. She'll write what she wants, do a spell check on it, and publish it, and I just read it afterwards like everybody else. Kind of neat, actually. Here she is tonight, having just taken a bath, sitting at the computer and making her post for tonight...
