We got up a little earlier this morning so that Steve could get to work on some tax things and I could go on a flight lesson. For the ole logbook, which I am behind on again of course, I went up in the RG with BG and we worked on his CFII for 1.6. Localizer and VOR approaches, hold entries and holds, missed approaches, all that good instrument stuff. And in an irony of the FAA, even though I wasn't doing all of those things, as the CFII, even though he was practicing being a CFII, I get to log them anyway, so it counts towards my own currency should I want it to.
I got done in time to catch a ride with Nathan and Jonathan back to Glenndale for lunch. We were going to fly in with the Baron, but today was salad and meatloaf, so we drove and stopped at Subway on our way in and got a sandwich too. I wanted to leave plenty for everyone else, you know...
Steve and I were asked to fly a guy down to Kentucky tonight, but the weather up here just wasn't going to cooperate most likely, so he cancelled. The trip and the income would have been good, but Mother Nature had other plans, and besides, that meant we were free still to go to dinner and celebrate a friends' birthday. :)
The house is quiet without the kiddo thumping around, and we still hope she's behaving and having fun. I keep thinking I'm forgetting her somewhere or forgetting to pick her up from some practice or something, and then I remember it's all good...
I guess I'll end on a few quotes that came in today:
--------------------------------
"It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are."
~e. e. cummings
The belief that youth is the happiest time of life is founded on a fallacy. The happiest person is the person who thinks the most interesting thoughts, and we grow happier as we grow older.
~William Lyon Phelps
"I am more and more convinced that our happiness or our unhappiness depends far more on the way we meet the events of life than on the nature of those events themselves."
~Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt
"You will find yourself refreshed by the presence of cheerful people. Why not make earnest effort to confer that pleasure on others? Half the battle is gained if you never allow yourself to say anything gloomy."
~Lydia M. Child
