Hump Day

I spent today doing nothing special. :) Steve went up with Jim for an early morning Mustang ride over the lake, and Kaylee slept in until very late. She needed it! I sat in the sunshine and read a new Patterson book and did very little of importance all day long except look up at whatever interesting aviating was going on at the moment. Today they celebrated the 60th anniversary of the T-28, and they had a very nice looking formation up several times. We'd watch them fly over and listen in on the discreet airboss frequency for all the performers. They also started in on the skywriting today, so the kids and adults alike enjoyed that as always. For dinner, we all went to our favorite local big restaurant, Kodiak Jack's, and we did it with a record for us of 26 Glenndale people. They had to put us at three tables near each other, but we all made it, and I (and several others) had my favorite King Crab legs. We joked that Sig Hansen and the other "Deadliest Catch" crews were going to have to head back out to the Bering Sea after we were done with all these crabs tonight and catch another load.

The kids have made little friends here and are doing pretty well. They have some independence here and can run around within a certain radius and have some fun outdoors. It's great exercise and it's a lot of fun for them-something they just can't do at home in the city. I could never let Kaylee wander around a few blocks at our house. But here, with a mini-gang of them going together and having a good time exploring and making up games and using their imaginations, it works for us all. Enjoy the irony of the signs and the kids. ;)
