I finally finished up my CFI Renewal stuff late last night, got it all printed up, signed my life away, and am ready to Fed Ex it off to the Feds as soon as I get a paper notarized that says I am in fact me. Then I'll be good for another two years, and next year it's Steve's turn...
This morning we slept in a bit, and when I looked at the weather to go get Kaylee from Missouri, there was a wad of storms off to the west that would arrive in Cape at about the same time I would. It was too wide to just go around and too solid to be able work through, so Kaylee got to spend a little extra time down there while I waited for it to move past my route of flight.
Finally this afternoon I ran out to Kokomo to fuel up the Baron before they closed. Steve was out there doing a flight review, and when he was done we fired up the grill and cooked up some hot dogs and finished off some food that was left over out there while we waited for said wad of storms to move.
He went with me to pick up Kaylee, and it was an uneventful flight both directions. There was a little rain and a very ugly thunderstorm off to our east, but we didn't bother it and it didn't bother us. Kaylee rode home in the back seat and wanted her dad to ride back there with her so she could talk to him the whole way home, so I played chauffeur. The good news was, I got to control the XM radio all on my own. ;) Since we came home at night, we could see the lightning from the storm to our east, and it just lit up that corner of the sky constantly. For at least five minutes that I'd turn and watch, the lightning never stopped-there was literally lightning flaring up at all times in a pretty wide swath of sky. Very pretty...from a good distance.
We didn't get home until midnight, and Kaylee was so glad to see her kitties and her house. She's off to bed, and I'm surprisingly tired myself...
Kaylee had a blast with her grandma and grandpa, and they seemed to have a good time themselves. I'm glad she can have a fun memory like that. :)
