Todd, Steph and Gabe arrived safely last night, and we spent a few hours catching up. :) This morning, Kaylee woke up without a weird barking cough, thankfully, and we went to her swim lessons while Steve went to work and our company caught up on their sleep.
Steph and crew were subjected to a couple of our airport guys at lunch and a couple more at dinner and survived, so I think they'll be fine now. I even got them airplane shirts since they didn't want to be the only ones not appropriately dressed. ;)
Kaylee and Gabriel have become friends even with the age difference, and play really well together. He's a little sweetie and she's doing a good job in big sister/older cousin role. :)
We stopped at a store, and Steph and Todd went inside for a minute while I hung out with Gabe. When they came back out and got back in the car, the first words Gabe said to his Mom were "Mommy is a goober." I like this Aunt Laurie Power. hehehe
We ate at the "Ole Oaken Door", another new (ish) little restaurant in Kokomo close to "The Quarry". It's a family-style restaurant where you can get a table full of people with home-style food, or you can get a plate each of way too much food. It was pretty good, especially the chicken. Anyway, Chuck, Judy, Me, Steve, Kaylee, Steph, Todd, Gabe and Jim Zazas all went to eat tonight, and it was good. Nathan is in beautiful Eagle, Colorado, which I am jealous about, personally.
Last night Todd was talking about this little problem Stephanie has with driving too fast in a car. Huh.
Last night Steph also mentioned she'd like to go up and do some aerobatics in a plane. I think we can take care of that. ;)
On the way into Kokomo, Steph and crew heard Rush Limbaugh listing the highest unemployment rates in the country. Guess which city came in #1? Kokomo, Indiana made national news as the city with the highest unemployment rate in the entire country, at twenty-some percent. Isn't that lovely?? *sigh*
Well, that's just weird.
That's just scary.
And that's pretty sad and amazing.
Tomorrow starts the crazy day. Lunch at the airport, followed by a bunch of T-6 rides, followed by some local political folks coming out and hanging out for awhile and me practicing the race with the dragster in the T-6, followed by a huge dinner, followed by more plane rides, followed by music and drinks and relaxing until everybody's ready to go home. Then we have to be back out to Kokomo by SEVEN a.m. on Saturday. Whose idea was 7 a.m. anyway?? :O :)
