The End of the Week

It was another beautiful day, and tomorrow appears to be following in its' footsteps. I enjoy the weather where the kids can play outside and get dirty and burn off extra energy and just be kids. And where I can get some extra Vitamin D therapy too.

For the ole logbook, I had one 6 flight this morning and got in about an hour and a half of practice. It's such a short time available to try to get in as much experience as possible here, so I am grateful for these good days. I took along some folks and we had a great time. It's nice when work and fun can collide in the same experience. :) I took along my one-armed glasses and wore them under the sun visor on my helmet, and I could see so much better than I thought, looking at gauges without any effort, that I know now I really do need to get in to the eye doctor's office and get some permanent contacts or glasses. That actually made a noticeable difference-one that has sneaked up a little on me. We had lunch at the office, and later that afternoon took the RG over to Muncie to pick up some parts for two of the airplanes currently down for maintenance. There was a lot of traffic over at the airport, including this one weird-looking taildragger with a big turbine engine that was some homebuilt I'd never seen before...

I got to school exactly on time to pick up Kaylee, and took her on a bit of an errands run since I hadn't been able to go do that earlier. She didn't mind-she actually loves to go to the store, and the bank tellers always give her candy, too. :)

We were home for about 45 minutes, and it was time to head over to Golden Corral for a birthday dinner for Nathan's son Jamie, who is now in the double digits! That is only the second time I've ever eaten at Golden Corral, and the first time Kaylee was a toddler. There is certainly a lot of food, which is one reason I don't often frequent buffets. I hate not getting my money's worth usually, so that is the kind of place I want to go to infrequently lest I end up needing elastic pants. ;) The "Chocolate Infatuation Station" had a warm chocolate gooey volcano thing. Yum. Kaylee was sitting there, and suddenly she jumped up and said "Mom! That's a friend from cheer! Can I go say hi?" I said sure, and she walked over to the other table, the other girl hopped up, they hugged and chatted for awhile, and then Kaylee came back over. I swear, I hang out with people who always know somebody wherever we go! Steve's mom is frequently recognized, Steve Cusick always seems to know somebody, and the last two restaurants I took Kaylee to, she knew at least one of the kids there from somewhere. Last week it was Culvers when she saw a girl from her old school. Tonight there were two separate kids she ran into that she knew. She always runs over and chats for a minute and is happy to see them, the little social thing. It's cute. :) So Happy Birthday to Jamie, the Big 10! (Wow, ten!!) :O

And a happy weekend to you all!
