What Could Be...

It was a pretty busy day around here today. Along with a lot of minutia, I got a lot of things done that needed done about a week ago. Unfortunately, having so many things that needed done precluded me from a last-minute trip to California, but such is life. I am not thinking about the fact that it is 70 degrees there and below zero temps here. It would have included about 24 or so hours worth of travel time in a 72 hour time frame, which is a reason to make me feel better for not going, but also means I don't get to help out on the trip and make it easier for Nathan/Chuck. Oh well, being big boys, they made it just fine without little ole me. ;)

Kaylee changed her mind about having a party later, and decided she wanted it ON her birthday. I told her we couldn't do it on a Friday, so she wanted that Saturday. Well, that is ten days away instead of two or three weeks, which doesn't leave people much time to prepare, increases the chances of people being busy, etc. She wanted to originally have a hangar party. Put a blow-up jumpy thing in the big hangar, have cake and such in there. We told her that wouldn't work, at least this year, so she decided she wanted to do a "Cosmic Bowling" party. This is black light bowling. :) So, I got that all set up today, and tomorrow she hands out invitations to her 9 classmates and a couple of local friends for her first actual birthday party with peers. She's excited about it, hugged me about four times and said thank you for letting her invite her friends to a party, because she's never done that before this year. Here's the problem. She is super excited, and I am nervous about it. Not about the actual party, but about kids coming. She also insisted on inviting all of her teachers at the school there. She gets along with grown-ups as well as if not better than other kids, so it was natural for her to want to invite them, even if that's unusual or even when I told her teachers don't often come to kids' birthday parties. I just hope enough people can come...
