As for me, I'm awake. I think. I kept busy all the way through 2 p.m., at which time I had to pick up Kaylee from school early, due to the worsening weather. It was pretty in a bleak sort of way, but we ended up with several inches of snow and it kept coming most of the day. Schools are already on a 2-hour delay for tomorrow morning, with a likelihood of cancellation due in part to wind chills forecasted in the 20 to 30 below zero range tonight and tomorrow. Niiiice. I had to go to a lot of places today, which meant a lot of driving. The first two trips the roads seemed fine, just snowy. After that it went downhill pretty quickly, and I was grateful for the hundreds of pounds of sand in my trunk, my full gas tank, and my Driving Like Miss Daisy Mad "skills". Around 3 or so I finished with a lot of the stuff I needed to do, got home with Kaylee, got warm, and suddenly realized I was half asleep on my feet...
We've gotten some mileage talking about Shrenker, the pilot from Indiana who bailed out of his plane and tried to fake his death in order to avoid jail time and such for his financial woes. His plane got so close to making it out over the water of the Gulf, but crashed short. Now he is claiming that his pilot side window imploded, that he got hypoxic, panicked, and bailed out. Problem with that is that he was so low that hypoxia is pretty much impossible for him. This is a video of him in an Extra 300 (aerobatic airplane) back in 2000. Hmm, I wonder if that airplane is currently for sale. :O
Partly thanks to Shrenker, this morning Steve and I were talking a lot about confidence, about class, about appearances of wealth, and so forth. Then this afternoon this quote came in, and it made me laugh. Good timing. :)
------------------------------------
"Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is self-discipline and self-knowledge. It's the sure footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life."
