Busy Homebody

Today marked the real end of our Christmas vacation break, even though it's now the weekend. We came home early enough today that Steve could go on out to a computer job that he needed to do today, and he's still out there at almost 10 p.m. Ah, welcome home, eh? :)

We got up and got packed and everything ready to go this morning. Kaylee went out on the trampoline for "one last time" with a couple of her cousins after everything was packed while we went through and tried to make sure we didn't forget anything. Of course we did, but that's neither here nor there. ;) Richard & Ann brought us all fresh oranges and tangerines right off the trees in Florida, and we've been eating them for breakfast these last few days. We brought back a good-sized basket of them to enjoy while we can. We did have to laugh as we were packing up the Baron with suitcases and bags and boxes of stuff. There are only three of us and we were only gone from Tuesday through Friday and we still had a ton of stuff packed in there. :) It was another uneventful flight home in nice weather with music playing, friendly controllers, and family members goofing off and having fun together. Oh, and we were home in one hour and 31 minutes. Yup. *stretches and smiles*

The only sad part today was that Kaylee was pretty unhappy about going home. Even seeing her cats didn't make it better that she was leaving behind her family. She huddled up to me in the car on the way to the airport, and spent some time crying in the car on the way home from the airport too. She misses her Grandma & Grandpa and Aunt & Uncle and cousins and even Boomer...

Landing back at Kokomo was a bit of a rude awakening though. It still looked nice enough out there, but it lied. As soon as I stepped out of the plane I was hit with what felt like a blast of icy air. It was just windy enough to be unpleasant, and my hands were bright red before I finally got in the car and on my way home. Steve had to leave right away for his computer job, so I unloaded all the stuff from the airplane (well, not all the stuff since I forgot to empty one of the baggage compartments out), topped it off with fuel, put it away and straightened it up, got home, unloaded it all, unpacked it all except for Steve's suitcase, did three loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, got the cats litter boxes cleaned up, fed the cats, got the deck ready, the dehumidifier emptied, heat on, and then Kaylee asked for a blanket and I realized I'd never turned the heat back up on the house. No wonder I stayed busy for awhile there-it was too cold to sit still! Heat back up to normal, and it was back to work. Kaylee put away all her toys and clothes, I cleaned up fresh cat pee off my kitchen floor from Roadie who apparently decided to let me know what she thought of us leaving now that we were home, recharged all my electronics and batteries that went down over the weekend, gave Kaylee a bath and a few more chores, and once everything I had with me from the trip was taken care of, I downloaded all my photos from the trip, deleted the bad, and edited and posted the rest up on my site. Last but not least I cleaned up my email from being gone, and am left with just 22, several of them just quotes that I want to copy later. All in all a rather productive day, I'd say!

I've got the littlest one in bed, the biggest one finally on his way home, the cats content and happy to see us, the dryer tumbling and music playing in the background, and I think it's finally time to relax...
