Uuuuugh

Today has been a busy run-around day for Steve and me both as we try to get ready to leave town. I got a ton of stuff done yesterday and today, from cleaning my inbox down from 100 to zero, taking care of a lot of SMA Support things, getting some shipments out, getting some checks out, getting some bills out, taking Kaylee out to play at the airport for a little while, etc.

It was on the way from the airport to the UPS store today that she started saying "Mommy, I feel sick." She does this in the car now and then, as I think she gets a little motion sick. So I rolled down her window back there to let the cold air in. She mentioned feeling sick again another time or two, and when I got to UPS she said she felt really sick. I hadn't known it, but she had been reading her fairy books in the back seat while we drove, and when she told me she'd been trying to read to distract herself from feeling sick, (eek), I told her I thought the reading had made her motion sick and that on the way home she'd need to just look up and outside far ahead and not read in the car. It takes awhile for the UPS people to get my shipments ready to go to some of these other countries, and by the way, over $400 to ship a small box to one of those countries (choke), and Kaylee sprawled out in the middle of the floor. I made her get up, only to have her start crying about how horrible she felt and that she had to go to sleep now. I let her go over to the corner, where she curled up on the floor hugging Deenie, and she actually fell asleep. What woke her up was the doorbell dinging-in the photo you can see the unit is plugged into the wall right behind her head. She jumped up, went pale, and curled up on the floor on the other side of the room and fell back asleep. She was quiet and out of the way and I couldn't make her stand there any more, and something was obviously wrong, so I left her alone. We get home, get cozy, and she starts screaming "Mommy! Help me! Help me now!" I go running in time to get her to the bathroom where she lost her earlier lunch. Poor girl. She was atypically a little late on some of it so I got to clean up her bathroom too. Poor me.

It's been a couple of hours and she seems to be doing better, so I'm hoping it was in fact reading-induced motion sickness. The only problem? I have a low-grade fever around 100 and haven't felt great since after lunch either, although I kept my lunch. ;) I was supposed to let Kaylee recover and then go back out and run a few errands before tomorrow, but instead I fell asleep feeling blah and woke up the same way.

Meanwhile, Steve's had one of those days in which you'd like to have a do-over. I'm not sure if he'd care for me to spell it out or not, but suffice it to say that everything that could go wrong, has, and he's going to be putting out fires into the weekend.

The cat threw up in our bedroom again, so I get to clean up people barf and kitty barf in one afternoon. ;) All in all, it's been quite a Monday. Steve is stressed, Laura doesn't feel well, Kaylee is excited to see her cousins once she recovered from whatever hit her, the cats are about to get nervous because we're getting our suitcases out, and we need some of our Christmas Glow back!

Tomorrow will start out a little crazy as we try to pull everything together so we can actually leave, and hopefully should end back in the company of loved ones. :)
