Thankfulness

I didn't start off very thankful today. I had to get up very early this morning, literal o-dark-thirty, and from then until about 11 a.m., every single thing I tried to do ended up not working out. I drove over an hour round trip and sat for two hours for no good reason, and after about the 4th thing that went wrong, I was decidedly cranky. Only one thing went right-the veggie tray I spent hours slaving over, washing and peeling and slicing and cutting, I even made radishes into roses and cut out a red pepper and stuffed it with ranch dip for the veggies. You didn't really believe that, did you? I ordered it at Marsh and picked it up this morning. Best money I spent, having someone else do all that work while I bang my head into the wall elsewhere. :)

By the time I got home, I really was cranky, so I crawled back in bed and pulled the pillow over my head, and even though I didn't actually sleep, I just wound down and readjusted my attitude.

It was much easier to enjoy the rest of the day. We piled in the car with my giant tray of veggies and dips and headed to Nathan's and joined the Rider, Davis and a few other families, and had a day of what else but food, friends, family and football. :) Oh man, Tre made this chocolate brownie pie, I've never seen anything like it. It was ooey and gooey and was like a liquid batter in a pie...I'm not sure how to describe it, but I could sure live off of it for a good long time. That was some good stuff. It all was, way too much of it that you can't help but sample even though you're already full from veggie dips and crackers and cheese and meat and all number of tasty things. I also had pickled asparagus for the first time today. You know, I know that sounds disgusting, but it's really quite good. I had to try a little bit of most everything-it's 8:30 pm and I'm still not hungry!

Kaylee played in the basement with Maggie, Jamie, Gwenie, Abby, and a few others, and didn't want to leave when it was time to go. The kids all really did a good job behaving today too, or if they didn't, they did it very quietly so we didn't know they weren't. ;)

They have a sweet dog who is very nervous and shaky, but she cuddled up to me quite a bit, and I enjoyed her warm company. When we left for the night, she came running outside by the fence by our car and barked, and it sure seemed like she was saying goodbye. I swear, sometimes you look some dogs in the eyes and it looks like they're looking right into you. :)

It sure seems like a good day to have a "Thankful Thursday", doesn't it? I don't think thankfulness should be reserved for one day a year, which is why now and then I'll pull out a Thankful Thursday. I'm thankful for lots of stuff, as always, but today I'm not feeling very verbose, so I will just say that I have much to be thankful for, I know it, and I appreciate it greatly.

By the way, Oprah set it up for people to be able to download 8 Christmas songs for free, from Aretha Franklin to Faith Hill to Josh Groban and so on for the next 48 hours only. Go here if you want 'em and get there in time.

Happy Thanksgiving to my family and friends. You are part of what makes my life better, richer, more fulfilling and more enjoyable. :)

Oh, I have to post this. I hope you can read the writing on this. No, it was Not sent to me, but I saw it and I had to save it off. This is a real note that was passed out for a pot luck dinner, and I can only imagine the experience they must have had at some point in the past with somebody's terrible cooking to put something like this on a note!

Happy Thanksgiving ladies and gents. :)
